Notifications
Notification settings are under Profile → Settings → Notifications. The screen splits into Delivery — how you hear from us — and Categories — what you hear about.
Both have to be enabled for a notification to reach you.
Delivery
Alerts on this device — push notifications.
Texts for time-sensitive updates — SMS.
Email — product news and receipts.
Turning off a delivery method silences every category on it.
Categories
Games — scores, match invites, and results.
Social — follows, likes, and comments.
Posts — activity on your posts and trending posts.
Direct messages and Group chats — messaging.
Challenges — incoming challenges.
Rankings — ranking changes and weekly reminders.
Venues — new courts, check-ins, and availability.
Events — tournaments and social play.
Product — app updates and announcements.
Saving
Changes apply when you tap Save Changes. Leaving without saving discards them — a common reason settings appear not to have stuck.
What's worth keeping on
Games. Match invites are time-sensitive; missing one means missing the game. If you keep one category, keep this.
Events if you're in a league or tournament — schedules move.
Venues if you rely on drop-in play. New court and check-in alerts are how you find out something's happening nearby before it's over.
Direct messages, since that's how people coordinate.
The rest are discretionary. Posts and Social are the highest-volume and lowest-urgency categories; if notifications feel excessive, turn those off first rather than disabling push entirely.
The queue is the exception
If you're in a court queue, you need to confirm before the deadline or you may be skipped.
Don't rely on a notification for this. Stay near the court and watch for the prompt — the deadline is short by design, and missing twice removes you from the queue.
The in-app feed
Separately from push, there's a notification feed on the Home tab. Notifications land there whether or not push is enabled, and are marked read as you view them.
If you'd rather not be interrupted, turn off push delivery and check the feed when you open the app.
Not receiving them?
Work through in order:
- ›Save Changes was tapped
- ›The delivery method is on
- ›The category is on
- ›Your device permits notifications for Vallio — an app can't override a system-level block
- ›iOS — Settings → Vallio → Notifications
- ›Android — Settings → Apps → Vallio → Notifications
- ›Do Not Disturb or a focus mode isn't suppressing them
