How PaddleRank Works
PaddleRank is your competitive rating in Vallio. Every point you earn is calculated from transparent, published rules — there's no hidden formula.
The one requirement
Both teams must have at least one real, registered player for PaddleRank to be awarded.
Games without a registered opponent don't count toward your rating. They still record with their full score and result — they just don't move anyone's number.

What you earn from a game
Four things go into your total:
Game points — earned from the game itself and how you played it.
Win Bonus — a flat +10 for winning. A loss is +0, not a deduction.
Kickers — bonus points for particular kinds of play.
Challenge points — if the game completed an active challenge.
Then two multipliers scale the result:
Source Multiplier — where you played. Quick, venue, event, or league.
Opponent Multiplier — who you beat, by tier.
Losing never costs you
This is the most important thing to understand about Regular PaddleRank, and it's unusual enough to state plainly:
A loss is +0. It does not subtract.
Regular PaddleRank reflects your cumulative activity and improvement over time. It rewards playing. You cannot go backward by playing someone better than you — the worst outcome of any game is that you earn less than you would have.
The opponent multiplier reinforces this: it boosts wins over higher-tier opponents, and any loss is no change.
The practical consequence is that there's never a reason to avoid a hard game to protect your rating. Play up.
Regular vs. Ranked
There are two PaddleRanks, and only one is live today.
Regular PaddleRank — what's described above. Cumulative, rewards activity and improvement, losses don't hurt. This is your everyday rating across all games.
Ranked PaddleRank — coming soon. A fluctuating, competitive rating where wins earn and losses cost, scaled by who you play and where. Ranked games require a venue.
The distinction is deliberate: Regular is a record of everything you've done, Ranked will be a measure of where you stand right now. They're tracked separately, with separate leaderboards.

What PaddleRank feeds
Your number determines your skill tier — seven of them, from Rally Rookie to Valiant. Tiers matter beyond bragging rights: events can restrict registration to a PaddleRank range, so your tier affects what you're eligible to enter.
It also drives leaderboards and the opponent multiplier calculation for everyone who plays you.
What doesn't affect it
Milestones and game points aren't touched by the opponent multiplier. Progress toward milestones accrues at face value regardless of who you played.
Guest-only games award nothing to anyone.
