Source Multipliers
Points are scaled by where the game was played. Organized play carries more weight than casual play.
The four sources
The multiplier follows the ladder, increasing as games get more structured:
Quick game — no venue attached. The baseline.
Venue game — played on a court at a registered venue.
Event game — part of an organized competition with registration and a bracket.
League game — part of an event running in seasons. The highest weight.
Why weight play differently
Because the games aren't equivalent, and a rating that treated them as equivalent would be easy to game and hard to trust.
A quick game is four friends who might be playing seriously or might be talking the whole time. A league match has registration, a schedule, standings, and people who showed up specifically to compete. The second is stronger evidence of where someone actually stands.
Weighting by source means your rating reflects competition you've earned rather than volume you've accumulated.
What it scales
The source multiplier applies to:
- ›Game points
- ›Win bonus
- ›Kickers
- ›Challenge points
So it's not a bonus on one component — it lifts essentially everything a game produces. The same performance in a league match is worth meaningfully more across the board than in a park game.
What this means practically
Your casual games still count. Quick games earn real PaddleRank. The multiplier is a scaling factor, not a gate — nothing is excluded.
Getting your court listed is the easiest upgrade available. If you play weekly at a park that isn't on Vallio, every one of those games is a quick game. Add the venue and the same games become venue games at a higher multiplier, with no change to how you play.
Organized play compounds. Events and leagues sit at the top of the scale, and they're also where you meet higher-tier opponents — which triggers the opponent multiplier on top. The two stack.
Challenges are worth more in structured play. Since challenge points get scaled by source too, completing a challenge during a league match pays considerably better than completing the same challenge in a quick game. See Challenges.
Ranked games
Ranked PaddleRank requires a venue — quick games can't be ranked. The ranked source scale starts at venue games and runs up through event and league.
