Milestones

Milestones are long-term goals that track your progress across your entire history. Each one rewards PaddleRank points when completed.

They never reset

This is the defining property. A bar and ratio — 42 / 100 — shows how far along you are, and you never lose progress.

Take three months off and your milestones are exactly where you left them. Unlike challenges, which expire on their cycle, milestones only move forward.

Chains

Milestones come in tiers within the same theme. Completing one unlocks a harder version of it.

So a milestone isn't a single target — it's a chain. Hit the target, the milestone completes, and the next one in that chain begins immediately at a higher bar.

This is why they stay relevant. There's always a next rung, and the early ones fall quickly enough to feel worth chasing.

The six types

Each milestone belongs to a type, which determines what activity advances it:

| Type | Advanced by | |---|---| | Play | Games played | | Win | Games won | | Scoring | Total points scored | | Clutch | Clutch points earned | | Comeback | Comeback points earned | | Endurance | Total minutes played |

Play and Endurance advance no matter what — show up and they move. They're the ones that reward consistency over results.

Win requires results.

Scoring rewards volume of points, which means longer games and higher target scores advance it faster than short ones.

Clutch and Comeback are the interesting pair. They only move in specific game states — close finishes and recoveries from behind. You can't grind them; they need the right situations, which means they accumulate slowly and mean more.

Multipliers don't apply

Worth knowing: milestones are not affected by the opponent multiplier. Progress accrues at face value regardless of who you played.

You can't accelerate a milestone by seeking out higher-tier opponents, and you don't fall behind by playing your regular group. Milestones measure what you did, not who you did it against.

How to think about them

Milestones are the part of Vallio that rewards just playing a lot, and they're the counterweight to everything else.

Your PaddleRank cares where and against whom. Challenges care about this week. Milestones care only that you keep showing up — which, over years, is the thing that actually correlates with getting good.

The right relationship with them is to largely ignore them. Play, and check occasionally to find you've quietly crossed something.

Badges

Completing milestones earns badges from the long-term milestone chains, visible in Achievements.
