Joining an Event or League

Registration works the same for both. See Events & Leagues.

Finding one

Through Explore, or the Events and Leagues tabs in the Compete Hub.

Two things decide whether you can join

Privacy

The organizer sets who can discover and join:

| Setting | Who can see it | |---|---| | Private | Players who both follow you and whom you follow back — mutuals | | Following | Everyone you follow | | Followers | Everyone who follows you | | Invite Only | Only players you invite |

This is why some events are invisible to you. It isn't a bug — you're outside the audience the organizer chose.

It's also why following the people you play with matters practically. Mutual follows are what make you eligible for Private events in your area.

Skill level

Organizers can set a PaddleRank range to restrict registration. Players outside the range can't see the event.

Ranges display as tier names — Rally Rookie – Smash Spark — or Open when unrestricted. See Skill Tiers.

Gender category

Events specify Open (all genders welcome), Men, or Women.

What to check before registering

Format, because it determines how many games you'll get. Round robin guarantees the most; single elimination can be one and done. See Tournament Formats.

Game rules — game point (7, 11, 15, or 21), win condition, and scoring style. These are set once by the organizer and apply to every match.

Play style — singles or doubles.

Time commitment. An event is a session. A league is a season — recurring matches over weeks. Don't register for a league expecting an afternoon.

After you register

You'll be in the competition and can see the bracket or schedule as it fills. When play begins, your matches appear with the organizer's rules already applied — you set up teams, not rules.

See Reading the Bracket.

What event games are worth

Event games and league games carry the highest source multipliers in the app, with league highest of all. Combined with the wider spread of opponents you meet in organized play, this is the fastest way to move your PaddleRank.

See Source Multipliers.

Cost

Joining and browsing events is free on Rookie. Explore and join local tournaments and leagues without a subscription.

Joining is free, always — any event, any league, no cap. The Champion line is on the organizing side, and it caps size and how much runs at once rather than what you're allowed to build. See What's Included with Champion.
