Creating & Organizing
Events let you organize competitive play with brackets, scoring, and PaddleRank rewards. Every option is set during creation, so it's worth understanding them before you start.
Leagues are created the same way, with seasons layered on top. See Events & Leagues.
Event type
The type determines where the event is hosted and who is eligible to organize it.
Events can be hosted at a registered Vallio venue, which reserves courts for the event — a reserved court shows a banner and isn't available for general queueing during that window. Venue-hosted events require a venue subscription (coming soon).
Privacy
Who can discover and join:

Choose based on who you're actually trying to reach. Followers is the widest net for a public pickup event. Private keeps it to your regular group. Invite Only for a closed competition.
Play style
Singles (1v1) or Doubles (2v2). An event is one or the other, not both.
Tournament format
How matches are structured. Projections — courts, total games, duration — update as you adjust teams and courts, which is the most useful thing on the creation screen: you can see whether your format fits your afternoon before committing.

Game rules
These apply to every match in the event.
Game Point
- ›7 — quick warm-up games
- ›11 — standard tournament play
- ›15 — extended matches
- ›21 — full recreational games
Win Condition — Win By 1 (first to game point, any margin) or Win By 2.
Scoring Style — Rally (a point on every rally) or Side Out (only the serving team scores).
For a tournament you need to finish on schedule, rally scoring at 11 with win by 1 is the most predictable combination. Side out with win by 2 at 21 produces better games and a much less predictable clock.

Skill level and gender
Skill Level — set a PaddleRank range to restrict who can register. Players outside the range can't see the event. Leave it empty to open it to all skill levels.

Gender Category — Open (all genders welcome), Men, or Women.
Use the projections
The format, team count, and court count interact in ways that are hard to predict mentally. A round robin with twelve teams on two courts is a very long day.
Adjust and watch the projected duration before you commit. This is the difference between an event that finishes and one that gets abandoned at 6pm.
What's free and what's Champion
Free on Rookie — hosting casual pickup events.
Champion — bigger competitions and more of them: 8 teams on 2 courts instead of 4 on 1, three events and three leagues running at once instead of one of each, up to three tournaments under a single event within a three-day window, and next season lined up while the current one is still being played.
